Title IX

Public schools are obligated to comply with Federal Title IX regulations enforced by the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR). The PCSD Title IX training addresses the requirements outlined in federal Title IX regulations, including topics such as understanding Title IX, recognizing sexual harassment and misconduct, reporting procedures, confidentiality and privacy, prevention strategies, and compliance with Title IX regulations.

Title IX Training

Suicide Prevention and Awareness

Training is required annually for all employees at each school.
The Jason Flatt Act 2016-310 on May 10, 2016, which requires all K-12 public schools to establish a policy, staff training, student curriculum, and a list of resources for suicide prevention services

Mandatory Reporters Training - Erin's Law

Training is required for all employees at each school. Select the Erin's Law course and complete the training HERE

ALL Substitute Teachers must have an updated certificate on file at the Central Office.

Analynn's Law

Annalyn's Law: State Department of Education Model Policy Supervision of Low-Risk Juvenile Sex Offenders.

Addressing Disproportionality in Schools (Lee vs Macon)

Every new teacher must complete all portions of the Addressing Disproportionality in Alabama Schools training.

Each school year, every teacher, counselor, administrator, and certified employee must review this presentation. (Review the linked document "Addressing Disproportionality" below)

After initial training completion, you will not need to "re-do" all the components of the Lee vs. Macon/Addressing Disproportionality in Alabama Schools training each year, only this first part on Disproportionality.

 

Jamari Terrell Williams Act

Jamari Terrell Williams was a 5th grade student in Montgomery, AL who committed suicide after being bullied online. The Jamari Terrell Williams Student Harassment Act places certain responsibilities on the Board of Education to make sure cyberbullying and bullying will not be tolerated on or off campus or online. It expands the current statute to prevent student against student harassment, intimidation, violence, and threats of violence to students off campus as well. It also specifically includes cyberbullying in the definition of harassment.
